Gill has come to Bicester to help me out with the children as Ben is away (yet again). We are sitting here drinking a rather nice glass of Zinfandel each, after a hectic bathtime/ bedtime routine.
Tim spoke to his dad just before bed and said "Daddy come home. I'm tired of you being on a course. What does your course look like? Have I seen it before?"
Katie has been back to the doctors today and is on the mend. She has finally eaten something tonight so I am happy (although I didn't appreciate cleaning up the mess!). Granny looked after Katie whilst I went to the Health Visitor to discuss Katie's night-time waking. Health Visitor once again suggested I sit in the room with my back to Katie for as long as it takes til she falls asleep again. Useless advice, I tried that before and got hyperthermia and almost went deaf.
Granny brought many bargains from the sales with her (and an empty box for Tim which he was very pleased with and now holds all his CD's)

I'm glad to hear that Katie is on the mend. As for the night time waking, I think you will find that it is normal for many children to wake at least once per night for the first 2½ years. J is still awake more or less every night!

Re: waking up - is KP getting cold?
Thomas has been waking up and after checking for all the usual things, we noticed he would go back to sleep after a cuddle as he needed warming up ! His room was getting too cold once the heating went off at night.
My health visitor told me to try putting a cardigan on Thomas, as although grobags are great they don't cover their arms. She also suggested a small heater (we are using an oil filled radiator) to keep the chill off. Apparently if they breath in cold air it can really chill their little bodies. Was also advised by Gina to try the fleecy sleepsuits which cover their arms (forgot that I used them with J - long time ago!) Anyhow the latter appears to be working as he has slept 12 hours per night for the last 5 days. Hope it continues....!

Seems like torture if you have to sit there and endure the noise. If your presence does not stop the noise you might as well go and have a glass of wine in another room. At least one of you will be relaxed. And she, seeing that you are not there may be overcome with boredom and decide she may as well sleep. Tank her up with carbohydrates before bedtime and only ever give her water if she wakes, alternately sign up for the OU and then you can both be bored to tears. ajen
That should be ajen. B.A. Open University, when all their programmes used to be at some ungodly hour of the morning e.g. 6 a.m. when the kids woke up.
Buy some ear plugs. Or go on holiday with a fiend and leave BM to it for a week or so!
1.An hour on the treadmill, or large hamster wheel, before bed.
2.Read a chapter or two from "Deuteronomy".
3. Listen to soothing music (see Tim)
4.Sit her on the setee with G for half an hour - always works for me!
